Money politics!
I just couldn't bear it again within me when we will get it right in this country called Nigeria? Last week I was in a nearby town to where I reside and I saw elderly men and women after waiting for this politician for hours to arrived the gathering were fighting over packets of cabine biscuits to be shared among them. I get talking with one business man beside the scene, and the man reasoned the same way I've been trying to for long, is this how will continue to sell our rights over peanuts and then dance to the beats for four years just because of #500? It's time we get it right, that we can no longer sacrifice four years again for just a meal! Nigerians, it's time to wake up from our slumber, most especially the youth we need to work on our aged to educate them on the need not to sell our future for the good of few who called themselves politicians! Youths are used for all sorts of nefirous activities on the premise of giving gifts that cannot sustained them for a day. Such was the one that took place recently in Kogi state by election where some youths risked their lives and some lost their lives in the process and some maimed. So, I ask, is their anyway for the youth to grow out of these poverty tailored life?
Democracy in the Nigeria language.
In Nigeria, as if we do have different meaning for some worldwide terminologies such as democracy!
Our definition of democracy is the government where the highest bidder get to power and intimidate the citizens. Just my own derivation of the kind of democracy we do practice in this part of the world. I just try to think that in a country where people are ready to give out their voters card to people just for money and the power to vote and be voted for is taking from one's right, how then do we say we're practising democracy? Over the weekend, it was a great sight to behold as youths that are supposed to take their future in their hands, just because of the momentary Awoof sacrifice a four years journey all in the name of democracy, and later is still same youths that we be saying our government are bad, no jobs, no food, no security. How can we enjoy all this good of things of life when we keep selling our future for a mosel of food?
Democracy, the government of the people for the people by the people, is it so for us in this part of the world? God save us!
